What happened

Google Research and the Stanford Accelerator for Learning introduced Polar Peaks, the third lesson in their AI Quests series, aimed at students ages 11 to 14. The interactive quest teaches participants how to map the human brain through a game‑based experience.

In the quest, learners scan and map neurons to help a game character recover memory, practicing data cleaning and model testing while being reminded of the need for human oversight. Completion triggers messages from two researchers involved in real‑world breakthroughs such as the recent complete mapping of the fruit fly brain.

More than 400,000 AI Quests have been completed across ten languages, and the program recently earned a 2026 Webby Award for AI Education as well as the Best Global K–12 Learning Solution award at the ETIH Innovation Awards. New teacher training modules are part of the Google AI Educator Series and the training for Quest #3 will be released next month.
